How Evri delivers
Evri, the network formerly known as Hermes UK, moves most of its parcels with self-employed couriers who each own a round close to home. You pick up your parcels from a local delivery unit, deliver them in your own vehicle, and are paid for each parcel you deliver and collect. Rounds are sized to suit the courier, from a few hours a day to a full-time load, and payment is weekly.
Evri also has an enhanced self-employed option, agreed with the GMB union, that adds holiday pay and a pension to the per-parcel model for couriers who commit to a set round. And behind the couriers sit employed roles: van drivers on trunk and depot runs, and warehouse teams at the hubs. Those are advertised through Evri's careers site, and they are the roles most likely to carry the Evri name in a job advert.
What you need to become an Evri courier
- Be 18 or over with a full driving licence and your own car or van.

- A smartphone for the courier app, which handles scanning, routing and proof of delivery.
- The right to work in the UK, and registration with HMRC as self-employed.
How the pay works
You're paid per parcel delivered and per collection, with rates that vary by parcel type and by the area you cover. Weekly earnings therefore depend on the size of your round and how quickly you work it. Fuel, vehicle costs and insurance are yours to cover and yours to claim against tax. Is it right for you
A local round suits people who want work near home with control over their hours, and it's a common first step into delivery because there's no van to lease. The trade-off is that income rises and falls with parcel volumes, peaking in November and December and dipping in the new year. Employed van roles at depots offer steadier hours in exchange for a fixed shift.
