How Yodel delivers
Yodel runs one of the larger self-employed courier networks in the UK. Couriers take on a round near home, collect parcels from a local service centre or have them brought out to a collection point, and deliver in their own car or van. Pay is per parcel, with collections and larger items paid at different rates, and it's settled weekly. Rounds vary from a couple of hours a day to full-time, and you can usually add or drop volume as your circumstances change.

What you need to become a Yodel courier
- Be 18 or over with a full driving licence and your own vehicle, roadworthy and with room for parcels.
- Courier or hire and reward insurance. Standard cover doesn't include carrying goods for payment.
- A smartphone for the courier app, which does scanning, routing and proof of delivery.
- The right to work in the UK, and registration with HMRC as self-employed.
How the pay works
Because you're paid per parcel, weekly earnings follow the size and density of your round. Compact urban rounds mean more parcels per hour; rural rounds mean more driving per parcel. Is it right for you
A Yodel round is a common way into delivery work without leasing a van, and it suits people who want hours that fit around other commitments. Volumes swing hard with the retail calendar, so expect busy autumns and quieter Januaries. If you'd rather have a fixed shift and a payslip, the employed driver roles at the service centres are the better fit.
